So from about 1886 until 1942, the studio was in operation at 35 W Third Street in Chester, PA.

Information on Levi R Morse is somewhat thin, especially between 1880 and 1897. That’s an eleven year gap. Some personal events in his life have been added to the timeline to show that he was at least in Thomaston, ME, but they do not show what his profession was.

Morse apparently worked mostly in Thomaston, ME, and occasionally in Warren, ME. (They are only 9 miles apart.) He is confirmed as photographer from 1868 to 1900.

There is an excellent review of Levi Morse at the Thomaston Historical Society.

Any additional information would be appreciated.

I have several photographs of my ancestors that were taken by him. He was for sure still in Altamont in 1888 when my great-grandparents were married, but I’m not sure about the dates of other photos I have from him. Attached is a short bio I found in the History of Effingham County, originally published in 1883.

He was also appointed and confirmed as postmaster of Altamont in 1896, but I don’t know if that’s when he may have closed his photography business. Apparently that didn’t last long since he’s in Avena as a farmer by 1900.
