Susan E Warrant

Photographer: S E Warrant
Plainwell, Mich.

From a tip in he comments, this photographer was found to be Miss Susan Eusebia Warrant. According to The David L Tinder book,
Directory of Early Michigan Photographers”,
she worked in Plainwell, MI, between 1886 and 1890.

Quoting from the book:
Susan (later Susie) was born in Michigan in December of 1852, last of the four children of Thomas M. and Elizabeth Warrant. She grew up on the family farm, and she never married. Susie lived with the farming family of her brother Thomas during the final three decades of her life. She died in Otsego Township on January 30, 1911.

The sources named were:
R. G. Dunn & Company Mercantile Agency Reference Books for Michigan and Michigan State Gazetteers.

So the dating on this one is pretty tight. It must have been done between 1886 and 1890. That makes it a fairly rare item also.

Thanks again to the unknown commenter.
