Note that the Find-A-Grave site lists his middle name as Hanson.

Accounts vary on his time in Springfield, MO, and Wichita Falls, TX, between 1868 and 1876 so some dates are estimates. Also there are no city directories for those years in those cities to confirm residence.

  1. In the 1877 City of Dubuque Directory he is listed as being on Julien Ave., not 567 Main Street. He took a picture at some point of the Glade Mill that was located at Swiss Valley. I am researching Glade and using info on Morhiser to help date the photo. The photo does list 567 Main.

Morhiser is listed in the 1910 (The thirteenth census) US Federal Census, State of Texas, Wichita County, Wichita Falls (as incorporated city), Supervisor's District no. 13, Enumeration district no. 225, sheet no 7B, taken on April 22nd, 1900; line 98, listed as brother under his sister Caroline Justine Morhiser (maiden name) HURSH (married name) who was stated as head of household; William H. Morhiser is stated as being 66 years old, widowed, born in Iowa, photographer, working on his own account.
