Louis Thors

photographer: Thors
1025 Larkin Street. San Francisco, CA
example from History in Photos blog

This is for some unknown reason, a scarce one. No other examples of Louis Thors work have been found. It was thought at first that the name imprinted on this card was “Thoms” and belonged to the photographer David Thoms, but after comparing the imprints of the two photographers, the difference was discovered. And of course, David Thoms was never in San Francisco, CA.

The example shown here does not actually belong to LOST GALLERY, but comes from another blog “The History in Photos blog”. It is added here because of the connection to Bradly and Rulofson, prominent photographers in San Francisco, CA. Bradly and Rulofson have their own page.

  1. There's a photo attributed to Thors in the The San Francisco Examiner (17 Jul 1898, Sun, Page 6) of the actress Adora Andrews. Just something to add to your list! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Adora_Andrews_wearing_a_beetlewing_dress_(1898).png
