Oswald P Menzel apparently operated his own photo studio from about 1889 to 1922. He sold his gallery to Oscar Morterud in 1902 and for a period of about two years Menzel worked for the Grand Rapids Reporter, a Wisconsin newspaper. In August of 1904 Menzel buys the studio back from Morterud and returns to the photography business. His main studio was in Grand Rapids, MN, but he also worked in nearby towns on a weekly basis.

Late in 1921, Oswald Menzel sells his Grand Rapids studio to W A Drumb a former newspaper man. Menzel then tours the west coast of the US before beginning work selling photograph supplies. He works first for Northern Photographic Supply and Zimmerman Brothers Photo supplies and then finally for Eastman Kodak. He retires from selling in 1953 probably because of ill health.
