Records for Randall are inconsistent to say the least. Building a coherent timeline is difficult when the documentation is hard to believe.

For instance the US census reflects a different date of birth for Randall each decade and then the death certificate is different than all the rest. All other factors match. (see below)

Atlanta (GA) Constitution - 04 Feb 1895

Charles E Randall and his son Charles W Randall, both photographers, are often listed as Chas Randal, C Randall or just Randall. With this in mind, the timeline here has been assembled with entries that are fairly certain for Charles E Randall, unless otherwise noted.

New examples and additional information are always welcome. Any additional information will help narrow the time that these precious antiques were made.

All submissions should be free of glare and shadows. Do not crop. Leave a border around each card. The edges are sometimes an important clue to the age of the card.

Some examples on this page have been enhanced or restored for clarity and presentation here.

This page is free for educational and research purposes only but, as always, if the original owner of any of these examples objects to the use on this page, just let me know and they will be immediately removed.

  1. Hey, I'm writing a blog post about old photos I bought at a gunshow, and one of the photos I have, just has the Randall name. I noticed that some other photos floating around the web have both Anglin and Randall on it, did they split?
I'm scanning the lot I got in pretty good resolution, you could use some of them if you want.

    1. Thanks for your comment. Not much was found about Anglin and Randall so perhaps a review is in order. Typically the partnerships of the early photographers didn’t last very long, most only a few months.

Additional examples of a photographer’s work are always welcome. Send scans, including the edges (don’t crop) to the address found in the profile. The edges sometimes help date a card.
