A very nice accounting of George W Kirk’s life is at the Everett Public Library site.

It appears that George W Kirk was photographer in West Virginia from 1870 until at least 1880. He turns up again in Everett, WA, as photographer. No documents have been found to tell where he was between 1880 and 1900. He remains a photographer it appears until 1912 when he and one son go into the shoe business.

From what can be found, the cabinet card at the top can only be dated between 1876 and 1888.
