It appears there was more than one "New York Gallery" in San Francisco, CA. And/or perhaps more than one proprietor.

So far LOST GALLERY has found a "New York Gallery" at 25 Third, operated by B. F. Howland. Another source says that the New York gallery was at 25 Third and was operated by J H Peters. Another card found lists 25 Third Street, operated by Sewell and Hucks

    1. Really hard to answer without more information. There was a photographer during the 1870's named Hector W Vaughn in San Francisco, CA.
