George Campbell Baum

photographer: G C Baum
Whitesboro, TX

George Campbell Baum
(24 Sep 1859 - 17 Oct 1939)

G C Baum was photographer in Whitesboro, TX, from about 1900 to his death in 1939. There are no city directories available for either Whitesboro, TX, where he lived most of his life or Holly Springs, MS, where he was born and lived until about 18 years old, so a closer examination is not possible.

George Baum’s first marriage was to Nancy Rebecca Crockett, sister of Nathaniel, William W, Eli C and Samuel R Crockett, the
Crockett Brothers, photographers in Oklahoma and Texas, around the same period.

(This is not George Campbell Baum. No records have been found indicating that G C Baum ever worked in Kansas.)

This card is by John Dallas Baum who was a photographer only a short time.
Apparently J D Baum had a studio in Hanover, KS, from about 15 April 1898 to May of 1901.

In May of 1901, he sold the studio to Joseph Dolifka and moved to Wymore, KS. He apparently worked as photographer there until the studio was lost in a fire 22 May 1922. It appears he got out of the photo business at that time worked as a salesman thereafter.

Not the one you were looking for? Here's the photographer's INDEX by name. Listed here are all the Cabinet Card photographers of the 19th century found in LOST GALLERY. This is a work in progress. For a look at the original postings go to LOST GALLERY.
