D D Degler apparently opened a number of studios in small Eastern Kansas towns. So far little has been found to date these studios. The studio called Grant and Degler in Cabool, MO, might have been opened before he left there in 1897 to live in Kansas, or perhaps during one of his trips back there as mentioned in the news items.
The “Grant” in this partnership was probably someone local who took on the responsibility of operating a studio (probably backed financially by Degler), while Degler returns to his studios in Yates Center and Emporia, KS.
But, it is also possible that the partnership was with Belle Grant, who operated a studio in Lamar, MO, just 147 miles from Cabool, Mo. Nothing has been found to support this.

No documents have been found to show Belle Grant died this year at age 57
No newspaper accounts have been found. No city directory is available for Lamar, MO.
Belle Grant operated a studio in Lamar, MO, at least from June of 1900 to April of 1910.
Perhaps, Degler partnered with Ezra Grant around 1890. Ezra Grant then died in 1894 and Belle Grant took over the operation. Degler moved to Westphalia, KS, in 1897. Much to speculate here until more documentation can be found.
