The name “New York Gallery” was apparently a photographer’s attempt at making his studio seem glamorous or stylish by alluding to the popular central for artists, at the time, New York.
Thus “New York Gallery” is located in several places. This page is to collect the various cabinet cards imprinted “New York Gallery” and possibly connect them to the actual photographers.

There is some evidence that a New York Gallery in Poughkeepsie, PA,
was actually operated at least for a while, by photographer Aurelius
M. Beale. (No examples available.)
Reading, PA is less than 200 miles from Poughkeepsie, NY, and even
less to Williamsburg, PA. so there is a possibility that it was the
same photographer for all three locations. More research pending.
The New York Gallery at 411 N Sixth, Reading, PA, was operated by
Charles A Saylor at least part of the time. There are MANY cabinet
cards still available from this studio.
