Candace McCormick Reed

Photographer
Reed
Quincy, Ill

Mrs. Candace McCormick Reed
(1818 - 7 Apr 1900)

The husband of Candace McCormick, Warren A. Reed, was a daguerreotype artist. He died quite young, about 1850. By 1870 Candace and her sister Celina have taken up the business, making daguerreotypes. Details are sketchy for a few years but by 1884 Candice has her own studio at 403 ½ Hampshire in Quincy, IL, and remains in business there until her death in 1900, at age 82.

This cabinet card was probably made sometime between 1884 and 1900. The card design indicates 1889-1896.

(The initials on this monogram seem to be "W A" so this card was probably done by Warren A Reed.)
