David Perry Barr
Born April 16, 1839 in Ohio, to John H. Barr & Mary Jane Allender Barr
in Ohio.
1850 Census shows he lived in Lexington, Stark Co., OH — This census
has limited information. David’s parents live with his paternal
grandparents, David Barr age 68 & Mary Barr age 65. Also in the home
is an Alexander Barr age 39, another son of David and Mary. David’s
father is John age 27, and mother aged, David himself age 11, a twin
sister Elizabeth age 11 and a younger sister Mary age 4. The census
taker did not make the first “r” of Barr well. causing transcription
to be typed as Baer. John is listed as female and David is as well,
but when tallying the page the counter caught and corrected David to
male but failed to catch John.
An Ancestry chart has the parents of David as Robert R. and Elizabeth
Young, but David’s death certificate agrees with the 1850 census of
John and Mary. Robert R. and Elizabeth were David’s uncle and aunt.
