Thomas L Parker seems to change locations regularly. It is not clear if he sometimes kept a studio open in his absence. A lack of city directory business section entries for those years suggest he did not.

The best that can be assembled is a trail showing the photographer’s locations but not his studios. Hopefully this will help date some cabinet cards.

No city directories available for the area and the time so following Sarah C Allison with more detail is not possible. It can be said that she was a photographer in Worthington, IN, from 1900 to 1910. Since cabinet cards were losing popularity after 1900 the date of the card at the left was probably done around then or before. Available records do not tell when she actually started her studio in Worthington but could be as early as 1880 depending on actually when she moved back to Indiana. There is just no way to tell at the present.

Since this card has an decorative embossed edge, it is probably from later in the possible time frame. A good guess would be right at 1900.

If more information is found, it will be added here. Suggestions welcome.

Many photographers of the day had temporary studios in towns neighboring their home base. They rented lofts, added a few props and visited them by connecting rail line periodically, once a month, or twice a week.

James M Heath of Terre Haute, IN, seems a good choice. Greencastle, IN, is only 34 miles from Terre Haute, IN, where James M Heath had a studio.

J E Bragg

Photographer J.? E. Bragg
Artist - Traveling Photographer

J E Bragg, traveling photographer

The first initial is faded badly and may be another letter.

So far searches have turned up:
T F Bragg of Union, OH
Thomas Bragg of Indiana, (b 1839)
And
Herbert L Bragg of Cadillac, MI

Since no location is included on the card, further investigation is limited.

20200630 Update
No further information has been found on this photographer Bragg. There were several photographers named Bragg after 1910 but that seems to be the wrong era for this photograph.

1937 Apr 25
Brazil, Clay, IN, Oliver Wilkins dies at age 75

From the scant few documents found describing the life of Oliver Wilkins, this cabinet card could have been done any time between his arrival in the US in 1881 and his death in 1937. He apparently worked as a civil engineer in the US around 1920. He possibly worked as photographer during that period also. He did move around a bit to neighboring towns it seems, but Brazil, IN, appears to be his most consistent residence.

It's a bit speculative but it appears the best time frame for Brazil, IN, would be 1921 to 1930.

Image purported to be of Florence B Hudson, second wife of Oliver Wilkins.
